Welcome to Homebase (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application Homebase (the “App”).
We are committed to protecting your privacy and respecting your data rights. This policy applies to all users of our App, and we are fully compliant with applicable privacy laws including COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
The App collects the following types of information:
- Family Member Information: Names, birth dates, photos, medical information, school information, and contact details
- Task Data: Tasks, to-do items, priorities, categories, and completion status
- Calendar Events: Events, appointments, reminders, notes, and scheduled activities
- Health Data: Health entries, symptoms, medications, and medical information
- Meal Planning: Meal plans, grocery lists, and recipes
- Notes and Lists: Personal notes, shopping lists, and other user-entered content
- Profile Settings: App preferences, theme selections, and customization options

2.3 Data Collection Disclosures
For Free Users: All data is stored locally on your device only. We do not collect, transmit, or access any of your data.
For Pro Users: If you choose to use Pro features, data may be encrypted and synced to cloud storage for backup purposes only. You can disable cloud sync at any time in Settings.
3.1 Local Data Storage (All Users)
All your family information, tasks, calendars, and health data is stored exclusively on your device using local database storage. This data:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud backup
- Is never transmitted to third parties
- Is never used for advertising or marketing
- Is never sold or shared
3.2 App Functionality
We use your information solely to:
- Provide family management and organization features
- Display family calendars, tasks, and health tracking
- Send local notifications for events and reminders
- Personalize your app experience
- Provide weather information (if location permission granted)
- Improve app functionality and user experience
3.3 No Third-Party Sharing
We do NOT share, sell, rent, or disclose your personal information to any third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental regulation
- Protection of Rights: To protect our legal rights or defend against legal claims

4. App Permissions
4.1 Permission Usage
Our App may request the following permissions, each used only as described:
- Camera Access: To take profile photos for family members. Data stored locally on your device.
- Photo Library Access: To select existing photos for family member profiles. Data stored locally on your device.
- Location Access: To provide weather information for your area. We do NOT track your location or store location data.
- Notification Access: To send reminders about events, tasks, and family activities. All notifications are generated locally on your device.
- Contacts Access (Optional): To help add family members from your contacts. This is an optional convenience feature and not required for app functionality.
4.2 Permission Control
You can revoke any permission at any time through your device’s Settings app. The App will continue to function without optional permissions (like contacts), but features requiring specific permissions may be unavailable.
5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Local Storage
For Free Users, all data is stored locally on your device using SQLite database technology. This means:
- Data never leaves your device
- Data is encrypted at rest by your device’s operating system
- Data is deleted when you uninstall the app
- You have complete control and ownership of your data
5.2 Cloud Backup (Pro Users Only)
If you purchase a Pro subscription, you may optionally enable encrypted cloud backup. This feature:
- Is completely optional and can be disabled at any time
- Uses end-to-end encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest
- Allows data synchronization across your devices
- Can be permanently deleted by you at any time
5.3 Security Measures
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- Local data encryption (managed by your device)
- Secure cloud storage with encryption (for Pro users who enable it)
- No unnecessary data collection
- Regular security updates to the App
5.4 Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as:
- You have the App installed on your device
- You choose to retain the data (it’s yours after all)
- Or until you explicitly delete it through the App settings
6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our App is designed to help families manage information about their children. We take children’s privacy seriously:
- No Direct Data Collection from Children: We do not collect any information directly from children under 13
- Parent/Guardian Control: Only parents or guardians with access to the device can enter children’s information
- Local Storage Only: For free users, all children’s information remains on the parent’s device and is never transmitted or collected by us
- Optional Cloud Backup: If Pro cloud backup is enabled by the parent, children’s data is encrypted and only accessible by the account holder
- Data Deletion: Parents can delete children’s information at any time
- No Targeted Advertising: We do not use any data for advertising, especially not children’s data
If you are a parent and believe your child’s information has been entered into our App, you can contact us to have it reviewed or deleted (though since we don’t collect it, it only exists on your device and you can delete it directly from the App).
7. Third-Party Services
7.1 App Store Services
Our App is distributed through official app stores (Apple App Store). When you download our App, you agree to the app store’s terms and conditions. We do not receive any personal information through app store transactions.
7.2 In-App Purchases
Our App offers optional in-app purchases for themes and Pro features. These transactions:
- Are processed entirely by Apple/Google via their secure payment systems
- We do not process or store any payment information
- We only receive transaction confirmations (not card or payment details)
7.3 Analytics and Tracking
We do NOT use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. We respect your privacy and do not engage in any cross-app tracking or behavioral advertising.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8.1 Data Access
You have the right to:
- Access all data stored in the App (it’s already visible to you within the App)
- Export your data through the App’s export features
- Review any data we have in our systems (for Pro cloud backup users)
8.2 Data Deletion
You have the right to:
- Delete any individual data entries within the App
- Delete all data by uninstalling the App
- Request deletion of any cloud backup data (if Pro user) by contacting us
- Use the “Reset Database” feature in Settings to start fresh
8.3 Data Portability
You can export your data at any time through the App’s settings. Your data belongs to you.
8.4 Control Over App Features
You can:
- Disable any permissions at any time through your device Settings
- Opt out of cloud backup features
- Use the App completely offline and locally
- Customize which features you use
9. International Users
Our App is primarily designed for users in the United States. If you use our App from outside the United States, please be aware that:
- Your data is stored according to your device’s location and settings
- We comply with applicable U.S. laws and regulations
- Your local privacy laws may provide additional rights
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will:
- Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
- Provide notice of significant changes through the App or via email
- Make the updated policy available in this same location
